The short version
Some links on SPANN to third-party tools, such as resume builders and other career services, are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or make a purchase, SPANN may earn a small commission. This never costs you anything extra. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without the link.
In one sentence: if SPANN recommends a paid tool and you buy it through our link, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you, and we only ever recommend tools we genuinely believe help job seekers.
Why SPANN uses affiliate links
SPANN was built by one person to solve a real problem: searching for a job across a dozen sites at once. Keeping it free, fast, and useful has running costs, the job-data sources, the domain, the infrastructure. Affiliate commissions are one honest way to cover those costs without charging job seekers for the core search, and without filling the experience with intrusive advertising.
The core job search on SPANN is, and will remain, free. Affiliate recommendations are an optional extra, never a gate in front of the search itself.
How we choose what to recommend
This is the part that matters most. SPANN's whole reason for existing is to be genuinely useful to people in a tough moment, often right after a layoff. That trust is worth more than any commission, so the rules we hold ourselves to are simple:
- We only recommend tools we'd suggest to a friend. If a product isn't something we'd genuinely point a job-seeking friend toward, it doesn't go on SPANN, commission or not.
- Relevance over revenue. We recommend tools that actually help with the job search (like building a strong resume), not whatever pays the most.
- The recommendation is the same whether or not there's a commission. An affiliate relationship never changes our honest opinion of a tool.
- We keep it minimal. A couple of genuinely useful partners, not a wall of links. Clutter and over-selling are exactly what SPANN was built to avoid.
Your choice, always
You're never obligated to use any tool we link to. The recommendations are there if they help; ignore them freely if they don't. You can always search for and buy any of these tools directly without using our links, the choice is entirely yours.
Questions
If you ever have a question about a recommendation or this disclosure, you can reach out through the contact details on the About page. We'd rather you ask than wonder.
